Italy has appointed an ambassador to Syria after a 12-year gap.

Axar.az reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy published information about this on the X social network.

The diplomatic mission was headed by Stefano Ravanian, who previously worked as a special representative on the Syrian crisis in the Italian Foreign Ministry.

It should be noted that the Italian embassy in Syria was evacuated in 2012 for security reasons, but it was not officially closed.
