Ahead of the UEFA Europa League's 5th round match between "Qarabağ" and "Lyon," the head coach of the Aghdam club, Gurban Gurbanov, held a press conference today.
Axar.az reports that during the press conference, French journalists directed provocative questions to "Qarabağ's" midfielder, Yassin Benzia, who had previously played for Lyon.
The journalists asked the Algerian footballer about his time at "Qarabağ" and the origin of the club’s name.
In response, Yassin Benzia stated that the name "Qarabağ" holds special meaning for everyone, and the players strive to live up to this name.
"The name of the 'Qarabağ' club carries a special meaning for everyone. We, as players, try to live up to this name. When I talk about the special meaning of the name, I mean that the team comes from Qarabağ, a region that was once involved in war. But we were forced to settle in Baku. There’s no hidden meaning in my words! We have a wise coach, and our job is to go out and play on the field. We are like a family here. I feel at home, as if I’m in my own country and own house. Our coaches and leaders always keep us and our families in mind," Benzia said.
It is worth mentioning that the match between "Qarabağ" and "Lyon" will take place at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium on November 28, starting at 21:45.
