Turkiye expects foreign countries to stop supporting Kurdish fighters in Syria after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad.

Axar.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made this statement.

While returning from a summit in Egypt, Erdogan told journalists that foreign powers will have no reason to continue supporting the YPG.

"We believe that in the coming period, no force will continue cooperating with terrorist organizations. The leaders of terrorist groups like ISIS and PKK/YPG will be eliminated as soon as possible," Erdogan emphasized.

It should be noted that the YPG is the main force of the "Syrian Democratic Forces" alliance, which is supported by the US in northeastern Syria. Turkiye has long considered the YPG to be a continuation of the PKK, a group that has waged a long-standing battle against the Turkish state and is recognized as a terrorist organization by Ankara, Washington, and the European Union.
