Yelena Khakhaleva, the former head of the Krasnodar Regional Court, who was detained at Baku airport, will be extradited to Russia following a court decision.

Axar.az informs that this information was reported by "RIA Novosti," citing a source in Azerbaijan’s law enforcement agencies.

“She tried to travel from Baku to Dubai, but during passport control at the airport, it was revealed that she was wanted, and Khakhaleva was arrested. After a decision by the Azerbaijani court, she will be extradited to Russia,” the report stated.

It is worth noting that in 2017, Khakhaleva made headlines for organizing a wedding for her daughter that cost 2 million dollars. Russian media reported that stars of Russian pop, such as Nikolai Baskov, Vera Brezhneva, Valeri Meladze, and Soso Pavliashvili, were invited to the event.

In 2021, the Russian Supreme Court allowed the Investigative Committee chairman, Aleksandr Bastrykin, to open a criminal case against Khakhaleva on charges of “large-scale fraud” and “official forgery.” However, Khakhaleva fled from the investigation, and in 2022, a court in Rostov issued an in-absentia arrest warrant for her.
