Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced an Easter ceasefire.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, "Guided by humanitarian considerations, from today at 18:00 [Moscow time] until 00:00 [Moscow time] from Sunday to Monday, the Russian side is declaring an Easter ceasefire. I order all combat operations to be halted during this period," the head of state said during a meeting with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

Thus, the Easter ceasefire will last for 30 hours.

Moscow hopes that Kyiv will follow its example and also cease fire. Ukraine’s response will show how sincerely it wants — and is able — to engage in peace negotiations, Putin noted.
