Today is International Children's Day.
Axar.az informs on June 1, 1950, during an international women's conference organized by the UN General Assembly, it was decided to dedicate June 1 to the protection of children. Since then, this day has been commemorated as International Children's Day.
The UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Azerbaijan joined it after gaining independence. As in all democratic nations, the protection of children's rights is a top priority in Azerbaijan.
The country has created every opportunity for children to grow up healthy, well-rounded, and as proud and responsible citizens. Naturally, children's rights are one of the most essential and inseparable parts of human rights. Children represent the future of Azerbaijan—and the future of the country is in their hands.
Today, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation—known for putting the ideas of National Leader Heydar Aliyev into action—is implementing large-scale initiatives. The Foundation’s President, ICESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva pays special attention to children in need of care and support, especially those deprived of parental care.
In Azerbaijan, a series of initiatives are being carried out to protect children's rights and nurture their talents.
Thanks to the efforts of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, special attention is given to children from refugee and internally displaced families, as well as those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Programs are also in place to support the inclusion and integration of children with disabilities into society.
