Washington's main interests in the negotiations with Moscow on Ukraine may be geopolitical. This, of course, worries Iran.
Axar.az reports that political scientist Mark Galeotti wrote about this in the "Times" newspaper, citing an unnamed US national security official.
According to Galeotti, if Moscow is ready to sacrifice its close relations with Iran or North Korea, this indicates that Russia is ready to change its geopolitical direction:
"If Russia decides to distance itself from Tehran and, in particular, transfers information about Iran's nuclear program to the United States, this would be a very big deal - even more important than Ukraine's natural resources."
Galeotti also said that it is recognized that the negotiation process between Moscow and Washington has reached a critical stage in terms of time:
Currently, both sides are in a waiting position around the question of "who will take the first step?"
