An Israeli delegation visited Cairo to discuss a possible long-term ceasefire deal with Hamas, mediated by Egypt and Qatar.

Axar.az, citing Times of Israel, reports that the proposed agreement includes a 5–7 year truce, the release of all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a full IDF withdrawal from Gaza, and Hamas ending all military operations.

Hamas has also shown a willingness to surrender control of Gaza to a technocratic Palestinian body. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed seven civilians in Gaza, and right-wing Israeli politicians are calling for a harsher military approach.

The conflict, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.
