Russian President Vladimir Putin has created a temporary illusion of calm ahead of the May 9 parade, while attacks on the front line persist, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated.

Axar.az reports that Zelensky emphasized that the so-called calm is deceptive. “The Russian army's assaults have not ceased. They are still using aerial bombs against our frontline positions. Yet, no air raid sirens have been sounded. This proves once again that when Moscow doesn’t want to kill, it can stop,” he said.

Zelensky stressed the need for global unity and intensified pressure on Russia to bring the aggression to an end. “Our shared task is to force Moscow to stop this process. To do this, we need unity and serious pressure on Russia — pressure so strong that peace becomes their only option.”

He also noted that Ukraine continues to work closely with the international community to achieve a just resolution. “Together with representatives from over 30 countries, we held discussions on how to bring about a fair and realistic end to the war and ensure security. We are working toward this goal together, and we highly appreciate the firm support provided to Ukraine. We expect good results,” Zelensky added.
