The second round of Russian-Ukrainian talks to be held in Istanbul on June 2 will take place in difficult conditions. The parties will discuss the issue of a ceasefire, which could be an important result in resolving the conflict.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the Russian State Duma's International Affairs Committee.
"The second round of talks will take place in difficult conditions after Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz," Slutsky stressed.
Slutsky expressed confidence that the talks will take place and their goal will be to prepare a path and mechanism for a complete resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to him, the Ukrainian side may not be ready for such a discussion, but Russia will "do its best":
"If we achieve a sustainable ceasefire, this will be a significant result in ending the conflict."
It should be noted that during Zelensky's recent visit to Germany, it was officially confirmed that the country had lifted the restriction on launching long-range missiles into Russian territory.
