President Donald Trump’s administration is pushing Serbia and other Balkan countries to take in migrants deported from the United States.

Axar.az informs, citing Reuters, the requests to countries in the region form part of a broader US strategy to find foreign governments willing to receive deported migrants, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Last month, the US Supreme Court let Trump’s administration revoke the temporary legal status of hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan, Cuban, Haitian, and Nicaraguan migrants living in the United States, bolstering the Republican president’s drive to step up deportations.

The Trump administration has been looking for possible destinations for the immigrants who could be deported as a result of the decision, the Bloomberg report said.
