Erdogan hails Russia-Ukraine talks as historic

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the next round of talks between representatives of Russia and Ukraine, held in Istanbul a few days ago, as a historic event.

Axar.az informs citing TRT Haber that he said this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

The head of state noted that official Ankara will continue its efforts to ensure a just peace between the parties.

He also spoke about the situation in Syria: "We highly appreciate the struggle of the new administration in our neighboring Syria for the national unity, territorial integrity and sustainable development of the country. We believe that with the support of all brotherly countries in the region, Syria will achieve lasting peace and return to its former days."
