The Speaker of the Palestinian National Council (Parliament), Ruhi Fattuh, condemned the US veto of a draft resolution of the UN Security Council (UNSC) demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Axar.az informs citing foreign media.

"The veto reflects the US's defiance of the international community and its clear support for the occupier (Israel - ed.) despite the daily killing of civilians," the parliament speaker said.

"The US government has decided to support an institution (meaning the State of Israel - ed.) that is pursuing a policy of genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, and at the same time remain silent in a situation where thousands of children are dying and suffering from hunger," Fattuh stressed.

According to him, by taking such a position, the US becomes a direct "participant" in crimes and bears political and moral responsibility for the ongoing humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.
