Xi and Trump agree on new trade talks

Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump agreed during a telephone conversation to hold a new round of trade and economic talks as soon as possible.

Axar.az informs citing a report by China Central Television.

The heads of state agreed that the parties will continue to implement the Geneva Consensus and hold a new round of talks as soon as possible.

"Both sides should make effective use of the trade and economic consultation mechanism, adhere to an equal relationship, respect each other's interests, and strive to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome," Xi Jinping said.

He added that China is sincere and principled on this issue.

It should be noted that US-China trade and economic talks were held in Switzerland on May 10-11. Following their results, the parties announced a mutual reduction of tariffs from May 14.
