Tensions are rising in Los Angeles as California officials challenge the Trump administration's deployment of military forces to suppress protests over immigration raids.

Axar.az, citing DW, reports that the Pentagon has sent 700 Marines and doubled the National Guard presence, now at 2,000 troops, amid growing demonstrations triggered by federal crackdowns on undocumented immigrants.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has filed a lawsuit against the federal government, calling the deployment an "unconstitutional show of force" against civilians exercising their right to protest.

Clashes between police and demonstrators have already led to several dozen arrests and scattered property damage. Meanwhile, international concern grows as Australia raises questions over a journalist injured while covering the protests.
