The European Union (EU) expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for helping to evacuate its citizens from the escalation zone of the conflict between Israel and Iran.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas while answering questions from Azerbaijani journalists on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague.

"I have been in contact with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister since the situation in the region escalated. I also thanked him for the evacuation of our diplomats and citizens via Azerbaijan," Kallas said.

She also noted that she discussed with her Azerbaijani counterpart the possible consequences of the war in Iran for Azerbaijan.

"Among other things, I am referring to the migration flow from Iran to Azerbaijan," the head of European diplomacy noted.
