Turkiye calls for strict compliance with the ceasefire agreement reached between Iran and Israel.
Axar.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this at a briefing before leaving for The Hague to attend the NATO summit.
According to him, the only correct and rational way to resolve conflicts is through diplomacy.
“Since June 13, there has been an increase in tension in the region. Turkiye has been calling for dialogue since the first hours of these events. We welcome the ceasefire agreement today,” Erdogan said, emphasizing that Ankara is closely following the processes.
The head of state also emphasized the importance of further strengthening the country's defense potential.
“We attach special importance to our local military-industrial complex,” the President emphasized, recalling that Turkiye has the second largest army in NATO.
Commenting on the war in Ukraine, Erdogan said that Ankara sincerely believes in the prospects for peace.
"The steps taken by Turkiye in this direction are well known. One of the most important steps towards peace is the Kyiv-Moscow talks held in Istanbul," he noted, emphasizing the importance of Ankara's contribution to the European security architecture.
Touching on the agenda of the NATO summit, the Turkish President said that his country is ready to host the next summit of the North Atlantic Alliance in 2026.
It should be noted that a meeting between the leaders of Turkiye and the United States is planned within the framework of the NATO summit held in The Hague on June 24.
