Russia’s Rosatom Director General Dmitry Likhachev is scheduled to visit Armenia on September 28.

Axar.az reports that Viktor Opekunov, president of Russia’s Self-Regulatory Organizations of the Nuclear Industry, said Likhachev plans to hold talks on Rosatom’s possible involvement in the development of Armenia’s nuclear energy sector, as well as discuss the construction of a new nuclear power plant.

He noted that the issue has been under discussion for a long time, explaining that Russia is offering Armenia some of the most advanced nuclear technologies in the world. Opekunov added that Rosatom is offering more than simply building a nuclear power plant, providing a full range of services, including project development, construction, fuel supplies, maintenance, the possible transportation of spent nuclear fuel to Russia for subsequent reprocessing, and specialist training.
