Kuwait Petroleum Corp. (KPC) is offering buyers the option of ship-to-ship (STS) transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the safe delivery of petroleum cargoes to their final destinations, a company official said.

Axar.az reports, citing Arab News, that Emad A. M. Al-Kandari, KPC’s deputy managing director for international marketing, said some vessels were still passing through the Strait when it was considered safe, while STS operations were being offered as an alternative.

Al-Kandari did not specify which petroleum products were being sold through STS operations.

According to the reports, KPC recently offered naphtha on a delivered ex-ship basis in several tenders in August and September. Kuwait’s naphtha exports, which averaged about 200,000 barrels per day in the first two months of the year, fell to zero in April and have remained at around half their pre-war levels over the past two months.
