I spoke with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and thanked him for his support of Ukraine, our people, and our territorial integrity. I also expressed Ukraine’s clear support in the situation where Russia is brutalizing Azerbaijani citizens and threatening the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on X regarding his phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"I conveyed our condolences to Azerbaijan over the killing of the Safarov brothers on Russian territory. I am confident that all the facts will be clarified and that justice must be served. President Aliyev and I share the same view – the life and dignity of every person must be protected," he noted.

"We also discussed our bilateral relations, including energy and humanitarian cooperation. We agreed to hold a Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Our government officials will intensify their work," the president added.
