Turkmenistan takes CIS chairmanship from Tajikistan

From January 1, 2026, the chairmanship of the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will pass from Tajikistan to Turkmenistan. This decision was made within the framework of agreements reached by the CIS member states.

Axar.az reports that the chairmanship of the CIS is carried out on a rotating basis and plays a key role in shaping the agenda of the Union and developing multilateral cooperation between member states.
