As tens of thousands of Afghan migrants continue to be forcibly returned from Iran each day, numerous reports have emerged about mistreatment of returnees by Iranian security forces.

Axar.az reports, citing DW, in a statement, the head of the Taliban government thanked Iran for hosting Afghan migrants over the past four decades but called on the Islamic Republic to carry out the deportation process gradually and to avoid insulting and humiliating them during the process.

The statement from the Taliban Prime Minister reads:

"We have always requested the Iranian side to conduct the deportation of Afghan migrants in a respectful and gradual manner so that, on one hand, the rights of the migrants are protected, and on the other, the departments of the Islamic Emirate can properly manage migrant affairs."
