A meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has begun in Baku.

Axar.az informs citing Report that the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergey Shoigu, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Andrei Ravkov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan Major General Bahodir Kurbanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan Colonel General Mirzo Sherali, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic Al-Major Raiimberdi Duishenbiev, as well as Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev.

During the meeting, Council members will consider draft Concepts of CIS Military Cooperation until 2025 and the Guidelines for the Development of the Joint System for Monitoring and Assessment of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Situation of the Ministries of Defense of the CIS Member States until 2025.

At the meeting, the results of the Army International Games - 2019 will be summarized, the issues of training officer personnel for the armed forces of the Commonwealth countries, the International Start of Science Festival of Innovative Scientific Ideas and preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory will be considered.

In addition, it is planned to outline joint activities of the joint air defense system of the CIS countries in 2020, to discuss the activities of the basic organization of the CIS member-states (Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation) in the training of military-humanitarian specialists and the organization of information support for joint events of multilateral military cooperation .

The results of the development of military cooperation of the Commonwealth countries in 2019 will also be summarized and the Work Plan of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS member states for 2020 will be outlined.
