The Embassy of Morocco in Azerbaijan celebrates the 20th anniversary of VI King Mohammed’s leadership.

Axar.az reports that, Ambassadors, local and foreign officials, including journalists attended to this official event.

The event began with the singing of Azerbaijani and Moroccan anthems and was followed by a speech by Moroccan ambassador to our country, Mohammed Adil Embarsh.

“After King Mohammed VI came to power, problems such as modernization of the country's economy, gender issues, and fighting poverty have become national priorities. All national resources of the country are mobilized in this direction. As a result, Morocco has made great successes in the region in various sectors, including automotive and aerospace industries. Morocco is becoming one of the regional logistics centers as a result of building, expanding and renovating communication and transport infrastructure.

His Majesty’s concern for the social and economic development is not limited to Morocco. The African continent enjoys a high priority during His era. Indeed, if Morocco’s leadership in Africa is an undisputable fact, it is due to a policy based on South South cooperation and mutually beneficial relations. Today Morocco is the first African investor in Africa and Moroccan companies are present all over the continent trying to make a difference in the lives of the local populations. The multibillion dollar investments by Moroccan OCP Group in Nigeria and Ethiopia are about food security in the continent and the Nigeria Morocco gas pipeline will transform a dozen West African Nations." – Ambassador mentioned.

Speaking about relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco, ambassador emphasizes development of cooperation between these two countries.

"The relations between Morocco and Azerbaijan continued to develop at all levels. Both countries share the same views with regard many subjects. The cooperation and coordination in the international organizations such as the UN or the OIC is exemplary. Here, I would like to take a moment to thank the Azerbaijani government for its constructive position and strong support with regard to the territorial integrity of Morocco on the Sahara issue.

The number of visitors in both countries, whether for tourism or for business is steadily increasing. The cooperation between government agencies is more diversified. The volume of trade is still limited, but the potential is the and the business communities started showing interest." - Ambassador noted out.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramiz Hasanov congratulated the people of Morocco on behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holiday. He said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing relations with the Arab-Islamic countries, which are linked to common religious, cultural and historical roots including the Kingdom of Morocco. Both countries support each other at international organizations. Morocco's defense of Azerbaijan's right position on the fair resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh problem is highly appreciated.
