Armenia agreed to dissolve Minsk Group post-agreement

Armenia wanted the OSCE Minsk Group to be dissolved after the signing of the peace agreement.

Axar.az reports that Armenian political analyst Hakob Badalyan stated this.

“The processes leading up to the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, especially those following the initialing of the peace agreement on August 8, are noteworthy. Yerevan had previously stated that it did not support the group’s dissolution until the peace agreement was signed. Yerevan was ready to sign this document at the same time as the peace agreement,” the expert said.

Badalyan emphasized that Azerbaijan supported the dissolution of the Minsk Group before the peace agreement was signed and demanded this from Armenia. In other words, Armenia was forced to accept Azerbaijan’s demand.

It should be recalled that on November 30, the OSCE completed the process of closing the Minsk Group and its related structures. This was done on the basis of a decision of the Ministerial Council, adopted following a joint request by Armenia and Azerbaijan during their OSCE chairmanship.
