Remarks by Hajiyev spark concern in Armenian media

Statements made by Hikmat Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, in an interview with The Washington Times have also been widely circulated in the Armenian media. Some political analysts, particularly those holding the most radical views on Azerbaijan and constantly belittling Azerbaijanis while fueling hostility, expressed serious concern.

Axar.az reports that Hajiyev’s comment, “We are establishing peace not only with the Armenian government but also with the Armenian people,” caused particular anxiety among certain circles.

Iran expert Vardan Voskanian allegedly responded by claiming that Azerbaijan is “dividing Armenia into government and society,” a panic that is, of course, a deliberate attempt to conceal his true unease.

The issue is that Armenian revanchists (Voskanian being among them) are trying to obstruct the peace process. However, Azerbaijan’s strategic approach, which also emphasizes creating peace with the Armenian people, undermines their malicious plans.
