On February 23, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad of the Gambia.
Axar.az informs that during the telephone conversation, the discussion focused on the current state and development of relations between Azerbaijan and Gambia.
The FMs stressed the importance of holding political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries in a short span of time, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations signed in September of last year.
The officials also underscored the significance of advancing political dialogue, reciprocal visits, and enhancing cooperation within international organizations.
The discussions revolved around Azerbaijan’s upcoming chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as the preparations for the high-level events to be held within the country’s chairmanship. The Azerbaijani FM briefed his Gambian counterpart on the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this year.
The conversation also addressed regional and international security matters, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
