Iran issue directly affects Turkiye and Azerbaijan

The Iran issue has a direct impact on Turkiye and Azerbaijan, Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, told journalists in Baku.

Axar.az informs, citing APА, “If turmoil similar to what happened in Syria were to occur in Iran, its impact on the entire region and the world would be different. However, this impact would be felt more strongly in Azerbaijan and Turkiye," he said.

"For this very reason, Turkiye and Azerbaijan wish for the issue between Iran and the United States to be resolved through negotiations. Turkiye is making efforts in this direction. Nevertheless, the presence of U.S. military forces in the region inevitably increases concern worldwide. We hope that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible without leading to any confrontation,” Fuat Oktay added.
