Trump says Iranian leaders want to talk

One day after U.S. strikes in Iran killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and escalated regional conflict, President Trump said Iran’s new leadership wants to negotiate, and he plans to engage with them.

Axar.az, citing The Atlantic, reports Trump said: “They want to talk, and I’ve agreed, so I will be talking to them,” Trump said, criticizing the Iranians for delaying what he described as an easy and practical deal.

He noted that several Iranian officials who had been involved in recent negotiations are now dead due to the strikes. When asked about the timing of talks, he declined to specify.
