Russia urges Iran and Azerbaijan to act with restraint

Russia is urging Iran and Azerbaijan to exercise restraint and avoid taking impulsive actions that could create new dividing lines in the region.

Axar.az informs this statement was made by Maria Zakharova, in connection with the drone attacks on Nakhchivan.

Zakharova emphasized that, amid the tension between Iran and Azerbaijan, Russia calls on both strategic partners to “act with maximum prudence,” refrain from creating new dividing lines at the expense of good-neighborly principles, and avoid rash steps. She stressed the importance of carefully verifying all circumstances of any events that could “lead to further escalation.”

Russia is ready to actively help find ways for the “immediate cessation of bloodshed in the region,” as well as to support the resumption of political and diplomatic processes and solutions based on international law, a balance of interests, and mutual respect, Zakharova said.
