Azerbaijan, Russia discuss border checkpoints

Azerbaijan and Russia have discussed synchronizing the infrastructure capacity of their border crossing checkpoints.

Axar.az reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee (SCC), that the discussions took place during a meeting between delegations led by SCC Chairman Shahin Baghirov and Head of Russia's Federal Customs Service Valery Pikalyov.

The sides also exchanged views on accelerating cargo clearance during peak seasonal periods and preventing congestion involving freight vehicles at border crossings.

As part of the visit, the delegations inspected the infrastructure, technical equipment, processing capacity, and operations of the Yarag-Kazmalyar and Takirkent-Kazmalyar border customs checkpoints under Russia's North Caucasus Customs Administration.

The meeting also reviewed the current state of bilateral customs cooperation and identified priorities for its further development.
