The United Nations highly appreciates Azerbaijan’s measures in the field of road safety.
Axar.az reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the remarks were made during a meeting between Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, Jean Todt, who is visiting Azerbaijan.
It was noted that the meeting included an exchange of views on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, issues of international cooperation in the field of road safety, as well as global initiatives in this area.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on Azerbaijan’s ongoing reforms aimed at implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, developing a safe, sustainable, and modern transport system, and ensuring road traffic safety. In this context, he highlighted efforts to modernize transport infrastructure, introduce digital solutions, and strengthen road safety measures. The minister also noted that high-standard road and infrastructure projects are being implemented throughout the country, particularly in the territories liberated from occupation.
Jean Todt spoke about the activities carried out in his capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, as well as measures aimed at preventing road traffic accidents and strengthening international cooperation in this field. He highly praised Azerbaijan’s road safety initiatives and the progress achieved, emphasizing the importance of continuing cooperation in this area.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
