Mr. Putin has taken a position against Iran's national interests regarding the Zangezur corridor. Historically, this corridor was established by the Soviet Union to ensure Moscow's security. If past agreements are annulled, 17 cities in the Caucasus should be returned to Iran.

Axar.az reports that these statements were made by IRGC General and former Iranian MP from Ardabil, Mansour Haghighatpour, on his X account.

He called for the creation of a nationwide movement in Iran to return the 17 cities in the Caucasus to Iran.

It should be noted that M. Haghighatpour is known for his biased stance against the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 1992, he invited Azerbaijani Islamic Party officials Haji Alikram Aliyev, Haji Vagif Aliyev, and Haji Hajaga Nuriyev to Iran and engaged them in secret cooperation for carrying out an Islamic revolution in Azerbaijan, at the “Marble” Hotel in Tehran and his residence in Shemiran.

Haghighatpour also organized the illegal transfer of young people with combat experience in Karabakh to Iran, where they were ideologically and militarily trained with the aim of orchestrating a coup in Azerbaijan.
