Pashinyan questions peace deal after new constitution

Armenia wants to clarify whether adopting a new constitution will be enough to establish peace with Azerbaijan and whether signing a peace agreement will mean that all outstanding issues between the two countries have been fully resolved.

Axar.az reports, citing local media, that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made the remarks during a parliamentary discussion of the draft state budget.

"Will a peace agreement with Azerbaijan be signed once Armenia adopts a new constitution? And will the signing itself mean the establishment of comprehensive peace, with no remaining issues on the conflict agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan?" Pashinyan said.

He said Yerevan would focus its efforts in the coming period on obtaining answers to these questions.

Pashinyan also said that the draft of Armenia's new constitution would be published in November.
