The West continues to advance its position and policies to establish control over the South Caucasus. A political information war is being waged against Azerbaijan. This is similar to the war being conducted against Azerbaijan before it regained control of the territories occupied by Armenia.
Axar.az reports that Russian political scientist Dmitri Solonnikov stated this in an interview with "Moscow-Baku."
He noted, "We can say that this political information war concerning Baku is not over. This war actually began alongside the First Nagorno-Karabakh War—when America adopted the fraudulent 'Freedom Support Act' in 1992, which aimed to provide assistance to former Soviet republics. At that time, Washington decided to promote a narrative that accused Azerbaijan rather than the occupying Armenia."
Solonnikov emphasized that France has a favorable view of Yerevan due to the presence of a significant Armenian diaspora in the country:
"After the Second Karabakh War, it seemed that the situation regarding information policy would change. However, the propaganda and efforts to undermine the situation not only did not change but expanded even further. Azerbaijan has been growing stronger year by year since restoring its territorial integrity. This might not sit well with the U.S. and France. Even if Azerbaijan and Armenia sign a peace treaty, there is no guarantee that Yerevan will adhere to it. If Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its position and dictate the agenda in various structures, its capacity to confront those exerting pressure will increase. Additionally, Azerbaijan must also insure itself and prepare for potential conflict."
