President of Suriname Chandrikapersad Santokhi has sent a letter of condolence to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

Axar.az presents the text of the letter:

"News of the tragic plane crash on December 25, in which many people lost their lives and were injured, deeply saddened us. On behalf of the Government and the people of Suriname, I express our heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of Azerbaijan.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones. We hope the injured passengers will recover quickly and fully.

In these painful days, I wish you and your people patience from God."

It should be noted that on December 25, an AZAL flight from Baku to Grozny was hit by Russian air defense systems in the sky over Grozny, suffering significant damage. Due to the refusal of permission to land, the plane headed to Aktau but crashed near Aktau airport. As a result of the crash, 38 of the 67 people on board lost their lives, while 29 survived.
