The deployment of the EU civilian mission in Armenia has significantly reduced the number of border incidents and prevented the risk of potential escalation.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, during the 4th meeting of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee in Yerevan.
Simonyan expressed gratitude for the substantial financial support provided by the EU, aimed at reforms in Armenia and several landmark initiatives. "All of this happens within the framework of Armenia-EU cooperation, which is becoming closer and setting a new agenda," said the Speaker of the National Assembly.
He cited a number of important events that took place over the last few months as vivid evidence of this: a dialogue on visa liberalization has begun, Armenia was included in the "European Peace Facility" program, and the EU extended its civilian mission presence at Armenia's borders for another two years.
Speaking about the deployment of the EU observer mission in Armenia, Alen Simonyan said, "This clearly and significantly reduced the number of incidents at the border and prevented the risk of potential escalation."
