The Americans need rare earth metals. We have a lot of them. When the moment of political will comes, we will be open.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by the Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov.
When asked whether Russian leader Vladimir Putin trusted the Americans when he offered them cooperation on rare-earth elements, Peskov said: "We trust ourselves. In order to say if we trust the Americans or not, we need to go a long way."
"Moscow and Washington are not yet discussing the conclusion of agreements on issues of mutual interest,' he noted.
"We see that the U.S. is taking a much more balanced position, which genuinely helps the efforts aimed at resolving the conflict around Ukraine. We certainly welcome this. We believe that such a balanced position demonstrates a real desire to contribute to a resolution," he also emphasized.
Peskov noted that statements from Brussels "so far do not signal balance." "But perhaps, as a result of the Europeans' contacts with the Americans, Europe may lean toward a greater balance," added the press secretary of the Russian president.
