No country in the world feels as much like a second homeland to us as Turkiye.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Aynur Jamalgizi, the head of Tеleqraf Holding, at the Turkiye–Azerbaijan Brotherhood Forum.
She noted that the friendship between Azerbaijan and Turkiye is the result of a bond born from the will of the people.
“The night of July 15, 2016, although intended to be written as a dark page in Turkiye’s history, turned into a symbol of resistance and victory thanks to the will and bravery of the people. The Turkish nation showed the world that a Turk cannot be brought down. This was a lesson.
That night, groups attempting an illegal military coup tried to dismantle the democratic foundations of the Republic of Turkiye, to overthrow the elected government, and to use weapons against the people. But they forgot one important thing: the power of the people's will, the unity of the nation, and the love for freedom.
The Turkish people stood in front of tanks, used their chests as shields against bullets. Regardless of age, political views, or affiliation, millions came together and declared: ‘This country is ours; this flag will not fall, this state will not be divided.’ They protected not only democracy, but also their future.”
According to her, July 15 is not just a date: “It is the day we honor the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for democracy and once again remember the true value of freedom. It is also a lesson in how crucial unity, equality, and national solidarity are when facing internal and external threats.
We must learn lessons from this event. In order to protect democracy, the rule of law, and the national will, we must always remain alert, know our history, and move into the future stronger, more informed, and more responsible.
Finally, I respectfully and gratefully commemorate the martyrs of July 15 and wish health and long life to the veterans. Let us not forget that the power of the people is never weaker than any other force. The strongest army is the people’s army,” said Aynur Jamalgizi.
