President Donald Trump has announced a new “gold card” visa program, offering a pathway to U.S. residency and potential citizenship for a $5 million price tag.
Axar.az reports that this high-end alternative to the traditional green card is aimed at attracting wealthy investors and highly skilled individuals.
The program, set to replace the EB-5 visa, will be available in two weeks and is expected to raise funds to reduce the national deficit.
Trump hinted that the card could even bear his name and suggested that Russian oligarchs might be eligible. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick emphasized that the program would eliminate fraud associated with the EB-5 system while bringing in high-caliber individuals.
