Azerbaijan is becoming an interesting partner for China. There are several reasons why China finds it appealing.
Axar.az reports Russian political analyst Sergey Markov said this in an interview with "Moscow-Baku."
"First, China is trying to build a coalition against the U.S. tariff wars. Second, China is seeking to establish a strategic alliance with Europe, and in this context, Azerbaijan, as one of the leaders in the EU’s energy policy, can make a significant contribution. Third, Azerbaijan supports China’s concept of a multipolar world. This means Azerbaijan backs China's policy that different nations, in order to accelerate their development, should use diverse political systems and are not necessarily required to pass a "democracy test" set by Europeans or Americans," he noted.
"Ultimately, although Ilham Aliyev had previously paid a state visit to China, today relations between Baku and Beijing have intensified. For Baku, this symbolizes a major leap forward on the international stage.
Undoubtedly, Azerbaijan’s cooperation with China in building a multipolar world and promoting international security is of great importance for strengthening the position of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the global stage," he added.
