Second major anti-corruption raid hits Istanbul Municipality

A second large-scale anti-corruption operation has been carried out at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

Axar.az informs according to Turkish media, as part of the operation, 47 individuals, including high-ranking officials, were detained. Searches are still ongoing for six others.

Among those detained are Arif Gurkan Alpay, Deputy Secretary General of IMM; Safak Basa, Director General of the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (IWSA); Begum Celikdelen, Deputy Director General of IWSA; Kadriye Kasapoglu, personal secretary to Ekrem Imamoglu; Gozdem Ongun, the wife of Murat Ongun; Deputy Chair Murat Yazıcı; and President of the IMM Technology Group, Ergun Ozer.

It should be noted that the first wave of operations against IMM was carried out on March 19. During those operations, 94 suspects were detained, and 54 of them were arrested.
