Russian mixed martial arts fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov thanked Turkey on Monday after graffiti of him defeating Conor McGregor in a fight appeared on the streets of Istanbul.
Axar.az reports that the street art depicts the moment McGregor tapped out during a chokehold by Nurmagomedov during their UFC 229 bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The graffiti also includes a speech balloon reading, "Don't talk too much" – an apparent reference to McGregor's verbal attacks on Nurmagomedov, insulting his father, religion and homeland Dagestan.
"Somewhere in Turkey," the Russian fighter said in an Instagram post with a Turkish flag emoji.
"Thank you for your support," he added in Turkish.
In nine hours, the post received more than 1.8 million likes and drew some 33,000 comments.
Nurmagomedov retained his UFC lightweight crown on Oct. 6, beating McGregor by fourth-round submission.
