An Azerbaijani delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has traveled to Tbilisi to attend the funeral ceremony of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

Axar.az informs that the delegation also includes Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board Allahshukur Pashazade and Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov.

During the visit, the delegation will convey the deep sorrow and respect of the Azerbaijani people to the Georgian nation.

It should be noted that Ilia II passed away on March 17 at the age of 93. A period of mourning has been declared in Georgia following his death.

The farewell ceremony for the Patriarch will be accompanied by a procession from the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi to the Sioni Cathedral.

Ilia II will be laid to rest today at 3:00 p.m. at Sioni Cathedral.
