Russia thanks Azerbaijan over Armenia rail shipments

The transport of Russian and Kazakh cargo to Armenia via Azerbaijan and Georgia by rail benefits everyone, and the increase in shipment volumes proves this, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Overchuk said.

Axar.az informs that Overchuk noted that specialists from Russian Railways reached an agreement in just a few days to transport Russian and Kazakh cargo through Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia.

"After thirty years, the first grain delivered to Armenia by rail came from Russia. Fertilizers are already arriving, and the variety of transported goods is expanding. This benefits everyone—Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia,” the deputy prime minister said.

Overchuk claimed that the Russian government is interested in promoting trade between countries and increasing cargo flows. “We are grateful to Azerbaijan and Georgia for their very constructive and effective cooperation in lifting the blockade of a Eurasian Economic Union member state,” he added.
