Archbishop of the Baku and Azerbaijan Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexander Ishein has died after a long illness.

Axar.az reports that this was reported by the Information Department of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese.

Alexander Gennadyevich Ishein was born on October 13, 1952 in Yaroslavl, Russia, and became a deacon in 1975. He is a graduate of the Moscow Theological Academy. In 1988 he rose to the level of Archimandrite. In 1995, she began working in the church in honor of the Virgin Mary's Innocent Pregnancy. In 1998, he was appointed bishop of the Baku diocese.

He has been an archbishop since 2012.
