The monument of Chingiz Aitmatov in Baku will become a symbol of our unity, friendship, and brotherhood.

Axar.az reports that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this during his speech at the opening ceremony of the monument to the prominent Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aytmatov in Baku.

"I would also like to say that I am sure that the whole Turkish world is proud of its worthy representative, and of course, the only thing that we all regret is that he changed his world too soon. It was very unexpected, as I already mentioned, I was with him in Baku shortly before his death. I met him almost a few months ago, and he was full of energy and looked good, he was talking about his plans. It was 2008, but I remember this meeting like it was yesterday," I. Aliyev said.
