President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva took part in the ceremony of putting the Khachinchay reservoir into use after repair and restoration in Aghdam district.
Axar.az informs that the chairman of the State Water Resources Agency, Zaur Mikayilov, informed the head of state and the first lady about the work done.
It was reported that repair and restoration of the Khachinchay reservoir along with the 7-kilometre-long canal was carried out.
The Khachinchay reservoir, located in the territory of the Aghdam region, was put into operation in 1964. The total water capacity of the reservoir is 23 million cubic meters, the height of the dam is 44 meters, the length is 940 meters, and the mirror area of the water surface is 176 hectares. Since the area where the water reservoir is located was under occupation for 28 years, there were serious difficulties in supplying water to the 7 thousand hectares of land irrigated from this source.
President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva watched a video showing the work done in the reservoir.
The head of state launched the Khachinchay reservoir.
It was noted that the water entering the Khachinchay reservoir is regulated by the technical scheme and transferred to the main channel with a total sub-flow capacity of 3.2 cubic meters per second. The initial 6.64-kilometer section of the canal has been repaired and restored along with the dam. A new administrative building and watchman's building, a repair workshop and a pumping station were built in the reservoir.
