On behalf of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, an iftar table was organized for Muslims living in different regions of the country.
Axar.az reports that state officials, deputies, ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, and Turkmenistan in Georgia, religious figures, media, and public representatives took part in the ceremony.
In his speech, Irakli Kobakhidze congratulated the Muslims of the country on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan holiday. He said that Ramadan is a month distinguished by compassion, love, and helpfulness.
He noted that throughout history, Christians, Muslims, and citizens of other religions have lived together in mutual respect, peace, and friendship in Georgia. The tradition continues today, and the state of Georgia will keep the historical custom alive for future generations.
We are all citizens of this country and therefore we should do everything we can to develop our country."
Speaking later, the chairman of the State Agency for Religious Affairs, Zaza Vashakmadze, gave information about the religious situation of Muslims living in Georgia in recent years. He spoke about the attention and support of the state to Muslims and other traditional religions.
Haji Faig Nabiyev, the sheikh of the Georgian Muslim Administration, Adam Shantadze, the mufti of Western Georgia, Haji Etibar Eminov, the mufti of Eastern Georgia, also spoke and thanked the head of government for the attention, respect, and trust shown to the Islamic religion in the country.
They also expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for the iftar tables organized by the state in all regions of the country where Muslims live during the month of Ramadan.
