The Shirvan canal will be our biggest project in terms of the volume of water and the coverage of cultivated areas.

Axar.az reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said these words in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Shirvan irrigation canal, which will be reconstructed in Hajigabul district on April 16.

"With this project, we are bringing new life to this field," said the head of state, stressing that the construction of the Karabakh Canal will begin next year. "This is a canal that will cover 115,000 hectares. The number of regions covered there is equal to 9. In other words, 10 districts will be irrigated here through the Shirvan canal, and 9 districts will be irrigated through the Karabakh canal," said President Ilham Aliyev.
